Earth+Ocean Jewellery
Celebrating Australia’s Earth and Ocean Treasures.
Introducing Ikecho’s exclusive Earth+Ocean Jewellery collection: a remarkable union of Australian South Sea Mabe pearls with either solid Australian opal or natural Australian gold nuggets, created in the pristine waters off the Western Australian coastline.
Each creation begins with a carefully selected and polished solid opal or natural gold nugget, which is placed within a living Batwing pearl oyster. The oyster is then returned to the ocean for approximately 18 months to two years. During this time, it gradually surrounds the opal or gold nugget with luminous layers of natural nacre, forming a beautifully domed Mabe pearl.
The oysters are nurtured in warm, nutrient-rich waters, where some of the world’s largest tropical tides carry abundant nutrients from the open ocean. These exceptional conditions contribute to the depth, lustre and individual character of every pearl.
At harvest, each Mabe pearl is carefully removed from the shell. The surface is expertly polished to reveal the natural opal or gold nugget, framed by the luminous nacre formed around it. Each pearl is then individually shaped and handcrafted into its final jewellery design.
No two Earth+Ocean pearls can ever be identical. The individual colour and pattern of each opal, the natural form of each gold nugget and the oyster’s unique formation of nacre ensure that every finished piece is genuinely one of a kind.
The pearl farm responsible for producing these extraordinary treasures has now ceased production. Only a limited number remain, and no more can be created. Once an Earth+Ocean piece is sold, that exact combination of opal or gold, pearl and natural formation is gone forever.
More than jewellery, each piece is an irreplaceable Australian treasure, a rare meeting of earth and ocean, created over time by nature and finished by hand. Designed to be worn, cherished and passed down, every Earth+Ocean creation is a future heirloom with a story that can never be repeated.
